About the Mother and Son Team of Penny and Scott
Bespoke Bookkeeping is a unique bookkeeping firm made up of the mother/son team of Penny Cruz and Scott Keene (the picture to the right is when Penny recently visited Scott in Hawaii). We’re actually not sure whether we’re bookkeepers who are also entrepreneurs, or entrepreneurs who are also bookkeepers, because the two have been so intertwined throughout each of our lives. Together we have both a diversity of bookkeeping and business backgrounds, and also a commitment to providing an exceptional level of personalized customer service. We teamed up to form Bespoke Bookkeeping to provide bookkeeping services custom tailored to fit you and your business.
About Penny
Hi, I’m Penny (the mom in this mother/son team). I grew up with my parents always owning their own businesses and my mom always doing the bookkeeping. She would sometimes give me small clerical tasks to do. I learned full-charge bookkeeping as part of my first office job at 19, posting entries by hand onto paper pages in a leather-bound general ledger book. Through the years, I’ve owned and operated a number of businesses, some of which were purchased while others were new business startups. The businesses I’ve been involved in include hotels, restaurants, bars, liquor store, ice cream shops, year-round Christmas store, candy stores, gift shops, full service florist, home and garden décor, and handmade artisan jewelry. About Scott
And I’m Scott (the son in this mother/son team). I also had the good fortune of growing up in my parents’ businesses. I remember my parents putting me on the cash register at the candy store as soon as I was able to reach it, and making sure I was able to count change back to customers. My first introduction to bookkeeping was sending out invoices for my mom’s flower shop. Now I’m convinced that business and bookkeeping must run in my blood! I spent most of my earlier life in Oregon, but moved to Hawaii as a young adult, with only a backpack, duffle bag and a one way ticket to paradise! While I’ve also owned hospitality and tourist focused businesses, much of my business experience is with construction, the trades, and the equipment rental industry. Between the two of us, we cover a lot of different types of businesses. I would love to put my experience to work to tailor solutions to your business and bookkeeping challenges.
